The temperature that the valve can withstand is dependent on manufacturing materials, that is to say, the upper limit of the temperature that the material with poor high temperature resistance can withstand and the lower limit of the temperature that the material with poor low temperature resistance can withstand.
Valve body materials of metal seated butterfly valves are not special. Like other valves, different metals are selected according to specific requirements. In fact, most of the factors that can affect the service temperature of metal seated butterfly valves are the material used in their sealing surface.
As far as the metal seated butterfly valve is concerned, it is often used in some hot water or cold water systems whose temperature does not exceed 100℃. When the medium in the pipe is acid or alkaline medium, the temperature that the sealing ring can adapt to will also correspondingly change. For example, in sulfuric acid (5%), the highest temperature of butyl rubber is 66℃ while in nitric acid (10%), the highest temperature of butyl rubber is 140℃.
When the sealing ring is made from F4 and the medium is sulfuric acid, nitric acid or sodium hydroxide solution, its highest temperature is 180℃. When the sealing ring is made from chloroprene rubber, its temperature shall not exceed 29℃, 29℃ and 93℃ respectively in nitric acid (10%), citric acid (10%) and sodium hydroxide (10%).
