Selection of valves shall comply with the following principals:
1. According to the use place and purpose of the valve, and after knowing the relevant regulations, specifications, standards and gaining approval, the valve suitable for various requirements can be selected.
2. Specify the working condition, applicable medium, working pressure and medium temperature.
3. Specify the nominal diameter matched with the pipeline.
4. Determine the connection type with the pipeline, including flange, inside & outside screw thread, welding, wafer, clamp, card slot, and car sets, etc.
5. Need to specify the driving type of the valve which can be manual, worm gear, pneumatic, electric, electromagnetic and electric hydraulic actuators, etc.
6. Set the model of the valve, including gate valve, globe valve, throttle valve, ball valve, butterfly valve, diaphragm valve, plug valve, check valve, safety valve, relief valve, steam trap and plunger valve, hydraulic control valve, etc.
7. Specify the working type of valve, including on-off type, adjusting type, safety type, etc.
8. Determine the material of body and inner parts, including grey iron, ductile iron, carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, monel alloy, copper alloy, aluminum alloy, plastic, etc.
9. Make sure the sealing performance requirements, sealing grade or leakage of the valve.
10. Make clear the requirements on protective coating, packing and transportation.
11. Set face to face dimension, height, outline sizes, flow resistance, drainage ability, flow characteristic, protection grade, anti-explosive performances, etc. for special valves.
12. Specify the installed position and direction for the valve.
