Fully Welded Ball Valves vs. Hard Seal Butterfly Valves

Sep 23, 2020 / Category: Industry News
The valve seat of fully welded ball valves is composed of the carbide Teflon sealing ring and the disk spring, so that they have strong adaptability to changes of pressure and temperature and will not produce any leakage within the marked pressure and temperature.

The hard seal butterfly valve, also known as a flap valve, is a kind of regulating valve with simple structure, and it can also be used for on-off control of low-pressure media in the pipe. A hard seal butterfly valve mainly plays the role of cutting off and throttling in the pipeline. The opening and closing part of the butterfly valve is a disc, which rotates around its own axis in the valve body, so as to achieve the purpose of opening and closing of the valve or flow regulation.

The differences between the hard seal butterfly valve and the fully welded ball valve are as follows:

1. Fully welded ball valves are evolved from the plug valve. The opening and closing part of the ball valve is a hollow ball while that of the butterfly valve is a disc.

2. The fully welded ball valve has low flow resistance, which can be completely sealed and quickly opened and closed under higher pressure and temperature. Its valve body is symmetrical, effectively withstanding pipe pressure. The butterfly valve has simple structure, small size, convenient installation, small flow resistance coefficient and quick opening and closing.

3. The sealing performance of fully welded ball valves is better than that of ordinary ball valves, but in large diameter valves, their sealing is worse than the ordinary ball valves.
